Farmer Empowerment
Young Farmer Support Scheme
"Cultivating the Next Generation: Our Young Farmers Support Scheme"
The future of Ghana's cocoa sector rests with its youth, and our scheme is designed to make cocoa farming a lucrative, modern career for young entrepreneurs. The programme addresses the critical challenge of generational succession in Ghana's cocoa sector — and has already successfully supported over 500 young farmers through comprehensive, free-of-charge training.
Funded in partnership with Hotel Chocolat, the scheme equips young people with the knowledge, materials, and tools to build profitable, sustainable farming enterprises from the ground up.
What the Programme Provides
- Training: Free, comprehensive training in organic farming practices, sustainable profit-oriented approaches, and climate-smart agricultural techniques.
- Planting Materials: High-quality certified hybrid cocoa seedlings sourced from Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
- Tools & Equipment: Basic agricultural tools and protective equipment to help young farmers get started without financial barriers.
- Mentorship: Ongoing mentorship in agribusiness management, supporting participants to make sound farm-level decisions.
- Financial Literacy: Financial education to help young farmers build and manage resilient enterprises over the long term.
- Rural Retention: By creating viable agricultural career paths, the programme combats rural-to-urban migration and helps sustain farming communities.
