A Ghanaian Nonprofit Built on Three Decades of Trust

Green Tropics (International) Group (GTG) is a nonprofit organization founded and rooted in Ghana, dedicated to supporting cocoa-farming communities across the Eastern and Ashanti regions.

We combine environmental stewardship with social development — empowering farmers, protecting natural resources, and building rural livelihoods that can withstand the pressures of a changing climate and global market.

Rooted in Community

Every programme is designed with and for the farming communities we serve — not imposed from the outside.

Long-Term Commitment

We measure our impact in decades, not project cycles — building lasting change through sustained field presence.

Partnership-Driven

Our work is strengthened by strategic partnerships that bring funding, technical expertise, and global reach.

Our Partnership with Hotel Chocolat

A two-decade collaboration that puts Ghanaian cocoa farmers and their communities at the centre — funding the Young Farmers Programme, the Pra River Project, and cocoa nursery operations across the Eastern and Ashanti regions.

What the Partnership Delivers

Since 2002, Hotel Chocolat has funded a hands-on collaboration with Green Tropics Group across Ghana's Eastern and Ashanti cocoa regions. Their Gentle Farming commitment means funding flows directly to the farmers who need it most, not just to supply chain efficiency.

The partnership currently funds three core programmes:

  • Young Farmers Programme — equipping the next generation with tools, seedlings, and sustainable farming training
  • Pra River Reforestation Project — restoring the headwaters of the historic Pra River through community-led tree planting
  • Cocoa Nursery Operations — over 1 million certified hybrid seedlings raised and distributed to 2,000+ farming families
